Michigan AD Dave Brandon Release At 1AM
For the past several weeks, stories related to Michigan football have been primarily negative and derisive. The team’s early struggles, combined with the Coca-Cola can ticket promotion, led to public skewering of head coach Brady Hoke and the program.
On Saturday, Michigan faced Minnesota and absorbed a dismal, disappointing 30-14 loss. This was tabbed the aforementioned “Coca-Cola” game heading into the contest, but its completion raised new questions about the coaching staff and decision-making. Quarterback Shane Morris took a big hit on a pass attempt in the fourth quarter and appeared dazed. He would remain in the game for another play before being relieved by Devin Gardner.
Coach Hoke met with the media on Monday morning and reiterated his and his staff’s regard for the players and their personal welfare. He spoke of Morris’ injury and gave one of the more asinine quotes you’ll hear from a coach or team officials.
You can watch some of Hoke’s press conference below.
Finally, you have Dave Brandon’s statement that was released at nearly one o’clock in the morning, as relayed by Michigan Daily. Again, there’s a reliance on the term “miscommunication” as rationale for this sequence of events. Brandon states that Hoke was not apprised of Morris’ injury status and concussion diagnosis before meeting with the press nearly 48 hours after the game’s conclusion.
