Harmon 2018 NFL Mock Draft 1.0

The long, arduous and winding road to the 2018 NFL Draft has finally come to an end. Roger Goodell will stride to the podium in Dallas tonight and relish the chorus of Boos in a fashion similar to the greatest of WWE heels.

And then the world anxiously awaits the first pick by the Cleveland Browns. Any interview pertaining to the NFL Draft that we’ve conducted at FOX Sports Radio had to include some flippant nod to the Browns’ troubled Draft history. OK, we also ran lines and sometimes full scenes from Draft Day, whether it was a great line from Sonny Weaver (Kevin Costner) or owner Frank Langella declaring “We had a great day!”

Seriously, the odds have tilted heavily toward Baker Mayfield as the #1 overall pick. Despite some of the demonstrative action between the white lines and the infamous police video off of it, Mayfield’s accuracy, big-game excellence and leadership thrust him to the top of the pack. Fellow quarterbacks Sam Darnold, Josh Allen and Josh Rosen should fly off the board in short order, but not without a lot of potential moves throughout the round.

I only pushed through one trade in this mock, though I’m sure there will be several others. I’m convinced that Chris Ballard has too much work to do and holes to fill to stay in the sixth slot. Therefore, he pulls the trigger on a move with the pick-rich Bills to fall. I’ve held that the Colts are the most intriguing pick point in the first round. If Ballard doesn’t trade the pick, then all eyes shift back to Andrew Luck and his recovery.

But that sets the table. I’m sure I’ll get just a handful of these selections correct. And that’s OK. I’m rooting for chaos today.
