Harmon’s Preliminary Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings

It’s that time of the week again. Week 8 of the 2013 NFL season begins on Thursday night with a clash between the Panthers and Buccaneers. I know. It’s hard to get excited about this primetime game following the debacle that was the Giants-Vikings on Monday night. But you have Cam Newton. You have Steve Smith looking to follow up his locker room outburst on Janoris Jenkins. You have slinging Mike Glennon and his connection with Vincent Jackson.

You have fantasy football and investing implications. You have your “Confidence Picks” to make.

The heavy Bye week Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, San Diego and Tennessee and the frighteningly long injury list makes this week especially tricky. How do you treat the Washington tailbacks in Week 8 against the Broncos in what is expected to be a high-scoring affair? Roy Helu, Jr. is drifting up my board (No. 17), and I might still be tempted to pump his rank a bit more.

How about AP? He’s talking about a hamstring issue coming out of the Monday night debacle against the Giants.

Matt Ryan with Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzalez against the Arizona pass defense? He drifts to a back-end QB1 slot. It’s a mess. Who survives and advances?
