First-Game Fantasy Failure: Victor Cruz, New York Giants

The “Cinderella” story of 2011 got off to a rocky start. Victor Cruz, the darling of fantasyland, a best-selling author and story of perseverance, had a night he’d rather forget. Cruz finished the night with six catches for 58 yards to lead the Giants, but he also finished the game with several drops.

The Cowboys’ cornerbacks, Carr and Claiborne, were very physical and aggressive in Rob Ryan’s scheme. As a result, many of the timing routes were disrupted, and Cruz (and his teammates) lost concentration while anticipating contact. Cruz will look to rebound in Week 2 against the Buccaneers.
