UFC 121: Lesnar Falls to Velasquez
The eyes of the sporting world were divided on Saturday.
College football ruled the early part of the day. No. 1 in the BCS dropped and several other top teams fell. Iowa State beat a confusing Texas team. My Northwestern team was felled once again by the Michigan State Spartans after building a 17-0 lead.
Baseball fans watched a tense Game 6 of the NLCS that was ultimately won by the Giants and saved by the bearded one, Brian Wilson.
Another bearded wonder, Brock Lesnar, took to the Octagon on Saturday night to defend his title against Cain Velasquez. He was dominated by Velasquez and couldn’t get out of the first round. Velasquez left the champ battered, bruised and bloodied. Velasquez absorbed Lesnar’s early charge and kept moving. He gave up 20 pounds to Lesnar and kept the champ off-balance.
I thought it was interesting that a face familiar in the greater “fight” world was at ringside. “The Undertaker” engaged in a brief staredown with Lesnar as the former WWE star and football players left the ring. He asked Lesnar – “You wanna do it?”

Is the cross-over match and monster Pay-Per-View in the offing?
Does Lesnar appear in a WWE offering to inject life into the brand?
Am I the only one that notes that the new champ here is “Cain” (Kane)?
It’s the buzz at the water cooler this morning and fanboys everywhere are going nuts!
