RIP Hal Douglas, Voiceover Legend
I saw a note early this morning that voiceover legend Hal Douglas had died at the age of 89. Like many people, I’m showing up on time at the movies in order to take in all previews, and he and Don LaFontaine (who died in 2008) were the main voices introducing upcoming film productions.
Douglas famously tagged many films in his career, but no trailer was more memorable than his on-screen efforts to put together a promo for “Comedian.” “Comedian,” if you don’t recall, was a documentary-style film about Jerry Seinfeld piecing together a new comedy routine post-“Seinfeld” and speaking with his friends (Chris Rock and Colin Quinn among them) about the craft of comedy.
Check out this bit.
