Mikel Leshoure to Miss 2011 Season with Torn Left Achilles Tendon

I saw the first Tweets and notes come down the line on Mikel Leshoure Monday morning and shook my head. Longtime readers and listeners to my podcasts ( Inside The Swollen Dome on BlogTalkRadio) or the FOX Sports “Fantasy Freaks” radio show know of my man-crush on Leshoure. You need only pull up the tape against my beloved Northwestern squad from last season at Wrigley Field to know why.

Then, I got the note that Leshoure would miss the 2011 season because of a torn left Achilles tendon. The “Thunder and Lightning” duo lost its punch, and the Lions need to find that power complement to speedy Jahvid Best. There are myriad running backs available, including longtime workhorse Clinton Portis, so the Lions will have plenty of options to choose from (not to mention a possible trade).

Maurice Morris is currently on the roster and slides back into the slot … for the time being.
