Lee Evans Dealt to Baltimore for Fourth-Round Pick
For the past 7-10 days, there had trades rumors connecting Lee Evans to a number of teams. The sudden depth in the Buffalo receiving corps made Evans expendable. And frankly, it’s a fantastic thing for Evans and now for the Ravens, who dealt for the deep threat on Friday morning in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
I’ve long held that the Bills misused Evans, positioning him as solely a deep threat, the “Hail Mary” option downfield instead of making full use of his skillset.
The Ravens had been giving rookies Torrey Smith & Tandon Doss long looks at the No. 2 slot. Evans’ addition gives Joe Flacco the vertical threat that has been lacking, but I suspect that he’s used more prominently than his recent runs in Buffalo (yes, I know that Buffalo had been terrible).
I’ll see Evans and his new Baltimore teammates next week.
I recently updated my wide receiver rankings and Evans rated a WR4 slot.
Look for the updated sheets next week while I’m on the road.
