Harmon’s 2021 NFL Mock Draft
Mock draft season ends today. It’s been a fun exercise over the past few months, replete with rampant and oftentimes mind-numbing speculation. But, that’s what happens when there are a handful of powerhouse QB options ready to come off the board. Quarterbacks stir the drink and get gums flapping. For my partner Jason Smith and me at FOX Sports Radio, we love to dig deeper and start projecting later. Why? Because of the crazy-ass swings.
But here’s the thing. We’ve got plenty of those at the top of the draft this year. The 49ers traded into the No. 3 slot. And, the speculation commenced. Which of the top quarterbacks will they select? Are they trading Jimmy G? Are they trading for Aaron Rodgers.
“Play the hits” is the mantra in radio. So, we’ve stayed in that top-10 area for most of the pre-draft hype. We even did a mock on FOX Sports Radio on Wednesday night.
But, as I do every year, I post my first-round dart throws in this space. For the purpose of this exercise, I’m looking only to match players to teams. How they get there is a fun and exciting journey. And I completely expect to miss on a ton of these. I’ve digested a ton of content and I’ve watched a lot of football, so I generally fall toward “need-based drafting.” And then, maybe I just order the players incorrectly at those positions. That’s the beauty of it all. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say.
