Kickers are people, too!
Seriously, it’s rare that a fantasy owner reaches to snag a kicker before the final rounds anymore, but it does happen on occasion. Still, kickers do play an important role in deciding fantasy matchups where, just like on the real playing field, games can be decided by narrow margins. They’re selected in the final two rounds, on average, with some leaving the defense for last.
Many owners are now playing the matchup game, finding the weakest defense on the slate and working the waiver wire hard on a weekly basis. The majority of fantasy squads will finish the season with a different kicker than they drafted. That doesn’t make them insignificant, but the pressure on you to draft correctly here certainly doesn’t equate to those last-second tries.
