Bob Costas Joins Jason Whitlock to Discuss Jovan Belcher and Gun Control
On Sunday night, Bob Costas used his halftime commentary segment to address the Jovan Belcher tragedy in Kansas City. He quoted a Jason Whitlock column in his segment, and there was a tremendous backlash to his statements. Whitlock, long a writer for The Kansas City Star and current FOXSports.com columnist, had addressed the “gun culture of America” in a column written in response to Saturday’s events. Whitlock elaborates on his point, citing “the irresponsibility of the macho male society,” within the podcast.
The piece Bob Costas referenced on Sunday night can be read here.
“I would argue that your rationalizations speak to how numb we are in this society to gun violence and murder. We’ve come to accept our insanity. We’d prefer to avoid seriously reflecting upon the absurdity of the prevailing notion that the second amendment somehow enhances our liberty rather than threatens it.” – Jason Whitlock
