Short National Nightmare is Over: Corso Head Returned

“Not so fast, my friend.”

In one of the random stories of the weekend, the Lee Corso mascot head used in the ESPN promo was swiped. The head, valued at $5,000, appeared in pictures on the internet following its theft. That piece was slated for the Prop Hall of Fame.

On Monday night, it was reported that Oregon police had recovered the head and two men in their mid-20s, both who had attended Oregon, were charged. Here’s the write-up and a picture.

The value of the head puts the culprits in line for serious charges. That’s not just pretty theft once triple zeroes get involved.

I just have to wonder – was the arresting officer an Oregon State product?
