Updated Injury Note: San Diego Hosting Kansas City
As I wrote in my “Lineup Calls” piece on FOXSports.com, my excitement about the Thursday night tilt between Kansas City and San Diego has waned since my initial perusal of the 2012 schedule. I was expecting a battle for the top of the AFC West, and but for Robert Meachem drop against Cleveland (more on him in a second), perhaps we’d be talking about San Diego chasing Denver for the division lead. As for Kansas City, well, they’ve yet to have a lead in regulation. Let that marinate for a moment.
I offer this update because of the injury issues impacting the San Diego receiving corps. Richard Goodman has already been lost for the season. Robert Meachem was held out of Wednesday’s practice because of a hamstring injury and stands as a game-time decision for tonight. Eddie Royal also has a hamstring injury that has him listed as doubtful.
As a result, Danario Alexander and former Harmon All-Name Team member Seyi Ajirotutu step up into the rotation. Alexander has been a PPR hero in the past, but knee injuries have kept him from becoming a fantasy staple. Ajirotutu knows the system and can immediately jump back into the mix after being signed earlier this week. I added Alexander (#48) and Ajirotutu (#60) to my updated rankings.
