Ryan Leaf Has Benign Tumor Removed
Amid the fallout of the Buster Posey collision, the start of the NBA Finals and NHL Final and myriad other sports stories came a line on the crawl about former San Diego Chargers quarterback Ryan Leaf. The embattled former No. 2 overall selection underwent surgery nearly two weeks ago to remove a benign tumor from his brain stem. The surgery was performed in a Santa Monica hospital and Leaf was released over the Memorial Day weekend.
It’s the latest setback for Leaf, who pleaded guilty to felony drug charges and received 10 years probation in August of 2010.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
