Ronnie Ronnie Brown Trade Falls Through: Keiland Williams and Maurice Morris on Tap in Detroit
The Lions tried to bolster their running back situation by making a deal with the Eagles for Ronnie Brown. Jahvid Best is unlikely to play in Week 7 after sustaining another concussion against the 49ers, thereby leaving a hold in the Detroit offense. Unfortunately, the Lions have to change those plans after the deal was nixed because of Jerome Harrison’s failed physical.
Of course, Best has not been a terror on the ground with the exception of the Chicago game, but he’s been an effective receiver out of the backfield in support of Matthew Stafford. His absence creates an opportunity in fantasyland, but who is the recipient of additional touches?
Keiland Williams, who ranks second on the team with 19 carries, appears to the be the front-runner. He’s demonstrated the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield in the past (Washington). Veteran Maurice Morris remains the second man in the split.
Jerome Harrison, who was supposed to return to the Eagles in exchange for Brown, is back with the squad after failing his physical. He was listed as a healthy scratch in Week 6, so there’s more to this story.
