Vincent Brown Sustains Broken Ankle: Ninja Count Down By One
The Chargers sustained another huge injury to an offensive weapon when it was revealed that Vincent Brown broke his ankle against the Cowboys. Brown caught a touchdown pass and paid the price when he was hit by Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.
Kevin Acee of U-T San Diego estimates that Brown will miss approximately eight weeks because of the injury, which takes him out for the first quarter of the season. In the first quarter of the campaign, the Chargers will play two division road games (@ OAK and @KC).
Brown had been expected to take on a larger role in the offense post-Vincent Jackson offense after shining in spots in 2011. Malcom Floyd and Robert Meachem lead the receiving corps alongside Antonio Gates. Eddie Royal stands to gain the most in Brown’s absence, but he’s missed most of camp because of a groin injury. The team is hopeful he’ll be ready to produce in the next week or so.
Roscoe Parrish and Richard Goodman round out the list for Philip Rivers.
