Freeman Sustains Knee Injury in Braves Camp
The Braves are loaded with young arms and may be in a position to swing one of those arms during spring training for some hitting help. Prospect Mike Minor has already made his stance on a possible return to Triple-A well-known (he doesn’t want to go). On Tuesday, the Braves received a scare when sophomore first baseman Freddie Freeman sustained a knee injury during fielding drills.
Freeman bent to field a low throw and had his right knee pop out of place, per MLB.com. Freeman cited a previous occurrence of the injury during his minor league career and that it took him two weeks to get back on the field. He hit 21 home runs as a rookie this season, and the Braves are counting on him to team with Jason Heyward (will he rebound?) and Brian McCann to challenge the Phillies.
