International Arrest Warrants Issued For Garlic Smuggling Ring
The headline drew me in, but this was a much bigger, more expansive operation than I could have imagined. Sweden issued international arrest warrants for a pair of smugglers who circumvented the customs process to the tune of $13.1 million in taxes over a two-year period. That’s right. The smugglers moved large shipments of Chinese garlic. The prosecutor estimated that some 1.2 tons of garlic moved during this process.
