Contract Talks Still Stalled: Will Matt Forte Get Dealt?
I’ll get into the Carson Palmer trade to Oakland in another post. This is an interesting one with the trade deadline looming in the NFL. Matt Forte and the Bears are at a standstill in contract negotiations. His future in Chicago is most definitely in question.
A Chicago Tribune report (reissued by NFL.com) discusses that fact [...]
All Things Must Pass: Raider Nation Mourns the Loss of Al Davis
The NFL lost one of its most recognizable faces on Saturday. Al Davis of the Oakland Raiders died at the age of 82. Davis’ meaning and significance in the NFL landscape depends on when you climbed on board the NFL freight train and how much you’ve delved into history. I’ll save the history lesson for [...]

Seattle TE John Carlson to Undergo Shoulder Surgery, Will Miss Season
Danny O’Neil of The Seattle Times reported this afternoon that tight end John Carlson of the Seahawks was set to undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum and will miss the 2011 season. Carlson had not been available to the team since the first exhibition game.
I was excited about the prospects of a two-tight [...]
Jay Cutler on The Score in Chicago
“Defensively, we carried all year, and looking back at the film offensively, those first four or five games , it’s hard to watch at this point.”
That statement says it all. Cutler doesn’t do many interviews, which made Thursday morning’s appearance on the Mully & Hanley Show mighty intriguing. Listen to his voice inflection when describing [...]

Judge Doesn’t Dismiss Case: EA Could Lose $1B
Remember that case brought against Electronic Arts (EA) by Ed O’Bannon and Sam Keller over use of player likenesses in its games?
Two years later, a judge denied a request to dismiss the case in California. If EA is ultimately found to have used the players’ likenesses illegally, damages would be awarded to the tune of [...]
I’m Back: Now Get Ready for a Flurry of Activity
My two-week European trek is now but a memory. I’ve now returned to the fray to start breaking down NFL free agency and NFL and MLB trades. Oh, and a bit of entertainment and MLB call-ups along the way. Hell, maybe I’ll get into my trip.
Anyway, it’s good to be back with you. Now, [...]

When’s the reality show begin?

James Harrison Leapt Off The Ledge, Rips Roger Goodell
Quotes from a Men’s Journal interview with Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison popped up online Wednesday morning. I can only imagine the reaction at Steelers headquarters when the content was relayed.
If you’ve followed Harrison’s career at all, you know that he’s a man who doesn’t mince words. The full interview will be available [...]
How Do You Move Past a Scandal? Hire a School Legend.
A reported emerged from The Columbus Dispatch on Sunday morning that former Ohio State superstar, Super Bowl champion and fantasy hero (if you were in IDP leagues) Mike Vrabel would join the coaching staff. In an offseason replete with scandal, disappointment and the dismissal of head coach Jim Tressel, Buckeyes fans finally got something to [...]
The Most Influential Athletes List for 2011 — Surprised?
I saw this story off of Forbes.com regarding the most influential athletes, as compiled by E-Poll and Nielsen Media Research.
From the article — “surveyed over 1,000 adults as to the athletes they considered influential, while also assessing their likeability and awareness levels. Only those known to at least 20 percent of the respondents were considered.”
Tom [...]
Memories: Those Cards in Your Closet Mean Something to Them, Too
I found this while poring through myriad sites to find some odds and ends for today’s radio extravaganza. I had a few of these experiences while seeking autographs as a kid. You’d have the occasional reference to a spring training night in Florida, but this story pays tribute to photographic memory.
I know. I was [...]
