Why Don’t Coaches Want to Roll Up to Denver?

The Denver Broncos hired John Elway into the front office, and he’s quickly ushered in a new age of openness. He’s Tweeting with fans and detailing the team’s efforts toward hiring a new coach.

Unfortunately, the Broncos are having a difficult time getting coaches to make the trip up to Denver.

The 49ers jumped the process in signing Jim Harbaugh away from Stanford.
Mike Mularkey interviewed with the Browns, but canceled his trip to Denver. He cited the need to scheme for the playoffs.
Then, word came down that Gregg Williams of the Saints canceled his scheduled interview as well.

Former Carolina coach John Fox is scheduled to meet with the team today.

It’s one of the few vacancies remaining. Carolina tabbed Ron Rivera as its next coach. Hue Jackson is the presumed successor to Tom Cable in Oakland.
