Aaron Taube of MLB.com reports that New York Mets third baseman David Wright will begin a rehabilitation assignment on Friday. Sandy Alderson met with reporters and spoke of a July 22nd target for Wright’s return against the Marlins.

Wright has missed two months of the season because of a stress fracture in his lower back. His return to the team early in the second half (perhaps joined by first baseman Ike Davis) will certainly give the Mets and fantasy owners a boost.
